You need to keep looking
if you really want to find the answer…
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. 6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
i liken this to a simplified lesson plan - a) first, seek; b) second, find; c) third, rewarded
there’s definitely something to hebrews 11:6:
"without faith it is impossible to please Him (God), for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him"
this connects right to that - verse 4, ‘i sought’, ‘He answered’, ‘He delivered’. it’s not that i’m saying you will always get something or be rewarded, though you might, only that you have a part in this equation - you need to “seek” The Lord. verse 5, ‘those who look’ are not covered in shame and whose face shines radiantly. verse 6, ‘poor man called’, “The Lord heard him”, and he ‘was saved’.
what i get from this is that we have to truly pursue God, our Lord, even more so than the things we are passionate about - our family, hobbies, etc. we must be determined to ‘find Him’ as if we lost something valuable and won’t stop searching until we find and have it back in our possession.
if we value our relationship with God we need to keep coming to Him in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, who we were given access to our Heavenly Father through Him (Jesus). doing so and letting Him lead the way, He - removes fear, saves me from trouble, and i will lack nothing.
seeking The Lord daily is so important. with the busyness of our lives, we can easily forget how critical it is for us to be connected with Jesus. like our relationships with our family - spouse, kids, whomever, you want to be with them because you love them, and likely they love you too. you build your relationship by wanting to be with and around them, and that would be no different with Jesus.
as men wanting to do for our spouse/kid(s), we want to help them reach their potential, to provide for their needs, and protect their lives. we do so by being consistently around them and doing what we can to make that happen. our Lord simply tells us He does that if we come (seek) to Him. let’s not forget to spend time in His Presence; it’ll never be time wasted, but life gained.
Father God, continue to help me in this area of pursuing you, wanting to know you Lord Jesus, to rely on you for our daily bread and covering over my family. teach us how to earnestly seek you so that we will always find you. in Jesus’ beautiful name we pray, amen!
