Choices Matter

if you have to think long, you’ll likely choose wrong…

'“Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse! You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today. But you will be cursed if you reject the commands of the Lord your God and turn away from him and worship gods you have not known before. ' Deuteronomy 11:26-28

so often we get lost in decisions because there are way too many options or choices. like when you go to a restaurant for the first time and you look over everything on the menu to make sure you find something you like. you sorta become dazed and confused with so much too choose from and you’re unsure of how it’ll taste.

then there are the times you go to somewhere you have frequented in the past where you can make your mind up right away because you know what you like and can expect from ordering it. simple and straightforward.

in these verses you have 2 options to choose from: ‘a’, obey The Lord your God’s commands and you get a blessing; while ‘b’, you reject The Lord your God’s commands and will be cursed. the choice is pretty simple to me, though i can’t say that for everyone.

even as messed up as i was during my diseased, addiction days, i wasn’t stupid to the point of not knowing which was the better “deal.” i always wanted what was best and can only hope the same for those who don’t know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

to think people want to be miserable and live a cursed-filled life is beyond me. so, take it from me my brothers, if you know what is right and good for you (trusting in God’s Word), just stay the course and receive your blessings.

Father God, thank you for the gift of free will. with that choice you gave us the opportunity to receive the goodness and full life by following, or to suffer miserably apart from, you Lord Jesus. may we always choose to do your will, in your way, to the glory and honor of our Heavenly Father. in your Glorious and Wonderful name i pray, amen!
