My strength comes from The Lord

my heart rejoices in The Lord

in you alone…

1 Then Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me. 2 No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. ~1 samuel 2:1-2~

this was apparently a song or poem of praise to God The Father, by hannah, thanking Him for her son, samuel, for which God heard her prayers asking for one. this should always serve as a reminder for us to do the same regardless of what we ask for.

my interpretation of “enemy” in this passage is my previous life of addiction. that lifestyle has a way of making you believe in the lies that the devil plants into your head - that God doesn’t love you, you don’t need God, you’re nothing but an addict, you are a loser, and pretty much every negative thoughts and belief he’s hoping you’d fall for. doing so causes you to drift further away from God, causing you to get deeper in you addiction, whatever it may be. when you continue living this way, it is easier for him to grab a hold of you, tightening his grip every breath you take like an anaconda. the more you struggle, the more you suffocate, eventually succumbing to his evil schemes, even to death.

fortunately we have a loving Heavenly Father, one who comes to rescue us from the evil one, sin, and destroying our lives even more. this is why i love this passage because it speaks of His goodness - He rescues, He answer, He strengthens. there was no human being on the face of earth i could turn to for help that could pull me from my own grave that i was digging. no amount of self-help, medicines, and doctors could fix and repair my brokenness, only The Lord. for that i praise and worship Him, giving Him all the glory and honor and praise.

i do tell God how much i love Him. what i need to do more is be specific of what i am grateful for and of who i know He is and what He means to me. whether small or large, don’t ever forget to tell Him thank you.

Father God, i never want to forget to acknowledge who you are - Creator and Ruler of all Heaven and earth, sovereign, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and there is none like you. i love you, please rule over all areas of my and my family’s lives. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
