Clouds and Rainbows

beauty in the skies above…

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” 17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” ~genesis 9:12-17~

i am fascinated by rainbows and often stop to look at them while driving, even pulling off on the side of the road to gaze at its beauty - the colors and how it stands out amongst the clouds. i actually forgot these verses and the promise or covenant behind it, that God remembers us.

often i pray for rain as where i live is so dry and with that the hope of seeing a rainbow. a few times i have seen a double rainbow which blows my mind how it happens. recently saw a video out of kauai where staff from the dlnr got to see a full circle rainbow which would be so cool to see as it is rare site; check out some of the others here in hawaii, this one in montana.

this is a cool reminder of how great our God is - Creator and Divine, that He made this for all of us.

when i see clouds and rainbows, i always want it to be a reminder of the mercy of God. that from one end to another, we are connected to Him, that instead of wiping me out, He restores me and thinks of me.

Father God, thank you for showing us grace and love in a sign of a rainbow. as it is your creation, let it be a reminder of how you love us and for us to have gratitude in our hearts, minds, and lips. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
