Let God hear your voice
remembering what he means to you…
'You are my strength, I watch for you; you, God, are my fortress, But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.' Psalms 59:9,16-17
definition of fortress: noun - a fortified place : STRONGHOLD
both strength and fortress are intertwined and it refers completely to The Lord, whom we rely upon in good and bad times. offering protection and surety, that He will always be there - that we can run to and trust Him.
the singing part i love, even if i, at best, sound like a recently neutered cat who’s still drowsy from being sedated. the reason this is so important is to take the focus off of ourselves - trials, struggles, etc. and squarely direct our attention to our God, praising Him for who He is and alongside the goodness from Him that we are blessed with. it not only shows Him our affection and love, it is a way to honor and put Him first in our lives - “in the morning i will sing of your love.”
if you ever see me on the road and i’m singing, kindly ignore me as that is my time to worship. trying to take my mind off the ‘world’ and bring my attention back to Jesus. not always successful in the concentration part as my mind does still wander. when i am dialed in though, i learn to appreciate all that He has done for me and able to let Him know what is going on in my life while i sing out loud with the windows down. again - just keep driving by and don’t laugh to hard.
dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you are always there for us. as Jesus is our strong tower, an ever present help in times of need, let my voice and the words i sing be pleasing to you. life is too challenging without you being there; i humbly ask for your continued presence in my and my family’s lives. to you go all the glory and honor. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
