James 4:7-8 New International Version (NIV)

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Observation & application

When I stop and ask God to be with and cover me, I am comforted in knowing His love protects me and I can feel secure.  First, I must confess; Second, acknowledge He is sovereign and in control; Third, I must change whatever caused me to be away from Him that led to the devil work on me; Fourth, trust in our Lord & Savior, Jesus, who guards and protects me and I know He will carry me through this and other difficult times.

1) Going back to drugs - any time I have thoughts or even see myself slipping, I can turn to Him and He takes me away from that stinkin' thinkin';

2) Adult Material - allows me to make the decision to keep watching & looking at what I need to keep away from;

3) Getting Angry - whether I am about to say something unpleasant, or to act with malicious intent, wanting to hurt someone - He allows me to vent a little bit and not stay in that frame of mind, giving me a chance to work on the emotional side that can cause or inflict pain instead of being calm, walking away from the situation and growing from it.

Prayer

Father God, it is in you that I find peace, comfort and love.  Help me to run towards you when all seems to be lost, irretrievable, desperate and pulls me away from you.  I trust in your promises that I can always turn to you, please help me to do so - always!  It is in your son, Jesus', holy & precious name we pray.  Amen.
