Scripture
1 Corinthians 6:20
for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
Isaiah 45:9
“What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’
observation
Adonai - Lord
In reverence to God’s name and not saying, taking it in vain, Jewish people replaced YHWH with Adonai. In scripture we do we both used, interchangeably or together, and though they both mean “The Lord,” Adonai provides a picture of what role the Lord does play in our lives - that of being our master or “Lord,” deserving of honor, has rulership, and is sovereign over everything.
1) recognize He created all heaven, earth, and everything in-between; 2) we are sinners in need of a Savior, providing us grace, mercy, & love; 3) we submit our lives to Him, His ways, trusting the plans he has for us; 4) to love Him with reverence nor for what He does for us but for who He actually is.
5) give up control of everything; 6) allowing Him access in all areas of my life and allow Him to change what He needs to; 7) obey what He tells me through The Word, His prompting, and the Holy Spirit.
Application
Basically, to sum it up - let go, let God; as the saying goes, does the clay tell the pottery-maker what to do. No, and so should we when we defer to God’s will, God’s way. Believing in Christ, that He alone has dominion and power over us as “Lord and Master” in all areas of our lives.
There are moments in my life where I have not given up control and need to work on this still. While I may say it, sometimes my actions, words, attitudes do not fully reflect that He is my Master, my Lord. With patience, reflection, prayer, support of my brothers-in-Christ, the Power of the Holy Spirit and when Jesus stirs my heart, mind, & soul, I am working on my surrender, allowing Him to be Adonai in everything.
Prayer
Dead Heavenly Father, please be my Adonai! I give up my will, my way for yours. For everything you have for me is so much better, more than I can fathom, and want you Lord Jesus to rule my entire life - not parts of it, what I want give up, let it be everything. Thank you for helping me see my need for you, leading my family and I. May I always have praise on my lips, gratitude in my heart, and demonstrate my love for you by doing as you had taught. Love you Lord Jesus, amen!
