Scripture

Isaiah 50:4-5
4 The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary.
Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will. 5 The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened. I have not rebelled or turned away.

Commentaries -
Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges:

He describes in the first place the close and intimate and continuous communion with God through which he has learned the ministry of comfort by the Divine word, and his own complete self-surrender to the voice that guides him (Isaiah 50:4-5)

Observations
There are moments when I do feel that God is speaking through me when I interact with others - specifically non-believers, whether friends, acquaintances, co-workers, even strangers. Perhaps in moments of comforting, helping out, etc. that I do ask for guidance before I speak that the words that do come out are more impactful, meaningful, relatable, understanding.

I cannot say that was the case in the past as my mouth, really the words that I chose to use, the tone, volume, and inconsistent with what The Bible teaches, how our Lord taught us and modeled. Lack of wisdom, tact, comfort, as I was too much in a rush to genuinely care and would say things just to pacify the situation or to move it along.

Now that I have changed, continue to, I do ask for wisdom daily, discernment and understanding, to know His will, His way, and as previously shared I do struggle with ‘hearing’ from God. What I do know is I am listening and I am working at being more attentive when He may be prompting and speaking into my life.

Application
1) turn off the noise and distractions around me; 2) never forgetting to ask for wisdom, discernment, and understanding; 3) is the thoughts that are going on in my mind my desire or God’s, does it align with what The Word says - big opportunity for me to connect this part; 4) share it with my fellow brothers-in-Christ; 5) be more patient and empathetic when speaking with others, not simply to get my point across - truly to learn to listen before opening my mouth.

Prayer
Father God, I am asking for a daily awakening as to know Your Will, Your Way. Pour out your Spirit on me, my family, let us use words of edification, life giving instead of taking, I want us to always be listening actively and respond accordingly. When we do so, you receive all the glory, honor, and praise, and also that it pleases you. I love you, we love you Lord. In Jesus’ matchless name, amen!
