Don’t Be So Serious All The Time

everyone needs a good laugh

i think that some people don’t want to hear the message of Christ because they’ve run into those that seemingly don’t know how to have fun, believe they live boring lives, having to follow ‘rules’ which they feel are restrictive.

that’s where we have to do a better job of explaining and living out our lives. we are supposed to enjoy our life, not be so darn serious, be able to laugh and experience joy - even goof around, chill with friends, go out and have some fun. our message of hope is one that we should be happy to talk about and live out, not to scare people away with.

sometimes i just need to take a break from everything that has got me all wound up, distracted, busy with, frustrated by, etc. i may watch a funny video or movie if i have more time; other times it is to call friends and check on how they are doing; once in a while to go surf (which i’d like to do more of); and just be with my family.

the Bible doesn’t instruct us to live a rigid, dull life. when we come to know Jesus our life is new and can be full if we allow Him to fill us up. still working on this area, to let go and not get all bent out of shape when things don’t go my way, something sucky happens, or someone says dumb sheet. while i’m not always staid, i need to tap into my enjoyable and amusing side more.

dear Heavenly Father, thank you that despite what i’m going through, challenges that arise, unpleasant situations and people that i encounter, you do provide us with inexplicable joy. you even provide us laughter when you know we need it. so appreciate those moments and ask for more of them, even to spread that to those you’ve placed in my life that need it too. i love you, we love you Lord, and pray this in Jesus’ name, amen!
