Getting Help From Others to Succeed

the importance of life/small groups

'A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. ' Ecclesiastes 4:12

in general, to succeed in life it is usually not a solo adventure. along the way you will need others to help you get to where you want to be. is this always to the case, perhaps there are one offs, but for the most part you will run into obstacles or challenges that require someone or people to help you get over and/or through whatever it is.

proverb potentially from Africa regarding teamwork:

if you want to go quickly, go alone. if you want to go far, go together.

i do not recall a time when i have had success professionally that i can lay claim to being the only reason for it. without assistance and support from other departments, associates, management, etc., it would not have come about and the rewards that came with it.

even in my personal life - when i got hurt surfing and was laid up for a long time; and when i was in recovery from addiction; through life change (as an adult) - all of these times i have had friends that were with me along the journey. the road can be difficult and it is then that the encouragement, bearing of ones burdens, grace and forgiveness, love, and especially prayers were needed and was there for and shown to me.

build a circle of influence that is walking with Jesus; doing life together that draws us closer to Him; helping each other become more like Christ; living out our lives in a manner that others are drawn to the Lord; and being available to each other in whatever situation, as best as possible, without fear of being a burden on each other - to sacrificially, demonstrate God’s love for one another.

dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the great men that you have placed in my life. i could not do life alone, and while i know you are always with me, you have provided me with these brothers-in-Christ who have held me accountable, that do love you, that helps me to have a deeper, intimate relationship with you, and are available when called upon. may you bless each and every one of them and their families. help me to step up when i am asked for assistance by them. may our relationships grow and blossom for your glory, honor, and praise Lord. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
