Essential to Knowing God

Get in the word (yes, read the bible)

'Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord , meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.' Psalms 1:1-3

verse 1, joy if you don’t listen to what the world or idiots would have you to believe is true; flip side of that is sadness if you do believe the lies they tell. your life will also suck if you hang around with losers (those who are up to no good and want to drag you along with them).

verse 2, those who receive or are joyful is because they focus on learning and doing what is right, not just when it is convenient but all the time. Christians, Godly men, do not chase after the things that bring destruction and death.

verse 3, how would you like to never having to water your plants because it is connected to a lifegiving source - that it will grow and not die. that in your lifetime you will bear good fruit - that you will be a blessing to those you love and come into your life.

glad that i no longer live out my life as described here - following the advice of the world, hanging out and doing bad things, thinking only of myself and my scheming ways.

working on knowing who i am through Christ. daily devotions, and prayers are the start and end of my day - though i still need work in all these areas. reflection, inviting the presence of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling in me is what i ask when i get up and lay my head down at night. need to be consistent in my alone time with the Lord.

thank you Father God that you give us the opportunity to learn more of who i am, your will for my life, what you have called me to do, all of which is through your Son, Jesus, and getting into your Word daily.

illuminate and help me understand what i am reading - to grab a lesson and apply it to my life. may i develop a habit of spending time with you to listen, feel your prompting, and also to share what is on my mind and heart.

not that you don’t know what is going on in my life, only that you want me to be honest with how i feel or what is going on because, like my earthly father, you care deeply and want to help. may my relationship with you continue to grow. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
