Obedience through Suffering
hebrews 5:8 NLT
S - 8 Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.
O - i can’t remember a time that i truly enjoyed suffering, though i can say for certain that i did learn some valuable lessons, for the most part, from them. sometimes i felt fine (not sure if it was arrogance), relieved (that it’s finally over), sad (i got caught), disappointed (didn’t go my way), and even being upset about it (actually didn’t do it).
when it sucked badly it was usually caused by my own selfishness and straying away from the path that God had me on. here, it tells us that Jesus was obedient because of what He went through. He accepted what our Heavenly Father asked of Him and endured all of the abuse, pain, and even death, though the latter He would conquer after being raised from the dead.
A - reflect on the times that i had to go through difficult times or struggles, as in the past couple of years and the event surrounding my failed business, caring for elderly family members, not being available to others when needed, etc. what lessons can i glean from all that happened and how do i use that information to draw me closer and develop a more deeper meaningful relationship with the Lord. how do i move from disobedience to obedience because of what i just went through - then start doing that instead.
P - Father God, thank you for the times that i had to suffer, regardless of the circumstances surrounding it. will you help to draw me near to you Lord Jesus, learning to be obedient as you were following what God had asked you to do and for me to trust you, implicitly, and do the same. i love you Lord and ask this in your precious and Holy name, amen!
