Weighed Down by Sin

the price is guilt and shame, but it doesn’t have to be

'How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord , my rock and my redeemer.' Psalms 19:12-14

one of the first steps is to actually take the time to recognize the areas in your life that you/i have let sin take root, so we can then move to the next step in asking for forgiveness, with corrective measures to follow, ultimately asking for the Power of the Holy Spirit to help you fight against the same sin or others that come up in the future.

without doing this/these steps, you will live with guilt, shame, regret because your past will cling to you if you don’t acknowledge them. this will affect your thought life and can be very emotionally damaging - not only for yourself but those you have a relationship with. once you recognize them, you can begin the process of releasing the grip and power it has over you.

in either scenario, it is taking a deep dive into what they are, how they became a part of your thought life, and carefully deconstructing them out of your life with the Lord’s help and not of your own doing. remember, left to your own will and way, those sins will likely grow back and way more out of control than before.

if we want to really find freedom, the only way is to find it in someone, not something, and it through Jesus. He will cleanse you from head to toe, from the heart issues and mental block that has caused you to stumble and fall with sin in the past and present.

dear Heavenly Father, thank you for helping me through the process of identifying the areas in my life that had caused me, some that still do, from having that deep, intimate relationship with you. teach me to recognize what remains and through the Power of Your Holy Spirit and remove them. break the negative and sinful thoughts that are nothing but the devil’s lies. may Your Truth reign in my heart, my mind, and be spoken from my mouth. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
