Lacking Confidence

in myself or god?

'But Moses pleaded with the Lord , “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord ? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” But Moses again pleaded, “Lord, please! Send anyone else.” ' Exodus 4:10-13

fear, self doubt, lack of confidence, all of these are not characteristics of who God designed and made us to be. basically strongholds that causes us to not trust who created us and believing that we will succeed in what He is calling us to do.

our Heavenly Father reminds us that He, alone, will lead and guide us in whatever we were called/asked to do. yet still, moses continues to ask the Lord to ‘send someone else’ because he believes he can’t do it. i’ve felt this way before, even sometimes now when i look back at my failures and don’t want to try or give up before really knowing.

i suppose you can say this is a slap in the face of God who instructs moses/me, knowing full well He is in control and allow doubt to set in and tell Him we/i can’t or won’t. this is not what believers in Jesus should be like or do. God does gets mad but still is so gracious and loving and wants us to succeed that He provides another way just to show how much He cares for us.

we must start by recognizing, then acknowledging, ultimately breaking the strongholds in our lives. they are not who we are in Christ Jesus. God wants the best for us and we need to believe so and walk in the confidence that He already has success planned for us in what He calls us for, to do. it is Faith over fear and not the other way around.

we are - a child of God, created in His image, a new creation, conquerors, and much more:

ephesians 2:10 - for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works

1 peter 2:9 - you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession

1 john 3:1-2 - see what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

2 corinthians 5:17 - if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation

romans 8:37 - in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us

genesis 1:27 - God created man in his own image

2 timothy 1:7 - for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control

Father God, please help me when i doubt you and the abilities and skills you have given me to move forward, doing what you ask of me to do. teach me to recognize the areas of my life that i have not fully surrendered to you, to break the chains that continue to bind me from fulfilling your calling on my life. may i do so to bring you glory, honor, and praise. in Jesus’ name i pray, amen!
